I can't be bothered, the best bits go into the show anyway

but if you read it before the show you can be all smug with your friends. the knowing exchanged between close pals that says "he's going to say stab wound in the stomach any second now and we both know it. i love you." is pretty magical.

i think the enjoyment warming up gives me would massively outweigh any lessening of the enjoyment of hearing a little of the stuff live

I don't know, being suprised with a punchline at a show makes it much more humourous, my two experiences of Herring's stand up have been Someone likes yoghurt played at battersea arts centre and menage a un at the underbelly. Going into someone likes yoghurt without having read any warming up totally blew me away while menage a un made me laugh, a lot, but wasn't even close to how great my first experience was. I suppose I shall stay off the warming up until I see the next live show to have a sort of comparison.

i don't read it every day usually, i catch up every few days. When I finally caught up with last Friday's I saw that he mentioned The Littlest Hobo - on the same day as I mentioned it on my blog - ooh, spooky. I think one of us has mentioned it before though, but not for ages.
