Self-Published highlights of Warming Up
I'd suggest publishing highlights of Rich's Warming Up blog in book form (sometimes its too much of commitment to read every day). This could be done quite easily if self-published via booksurge or similar.

i think that's a great idea! i got about 5 days behind recently and it takes a while to catch up then - and the chances of fans reading every single page from before they started are small, and they'll miss some great stuff unless he links back to it later. Not that long ago he seemed convinced there wasn't demand for recordings of his live shows, and now he's filming three of them for DVD, so you never know!

I decided to stop reading warming up after Edinburgh because I found it fair ruined the stand up for me, I enjoyed but not as much as I would have had I not known the material already, I feel a book might be a mistake.

warming up is the best it's great almost every day where as stand up you get once a year if you're lucky

Pliny The Younger- 12-21-2006

true but stand up is funnier...

keir- 02-10-2007

depends how you'd measure it i'd say watching his show for an hour would be funnier than reading warming up for an hour but i'd say reading a year's warming up would be funnier in total than the show for the year

Pliny The Younger- 02-19-2007

But surely on that scale it depends how many times you see the show

keir- 02-19-2007

but on your surprise weighted scale a second sitting wouldn't amount to much

Pliny The Younger- 03-20-2007

true enough though I suspect this scale doesn't take into account the various different stimulae that comes from sitting in a comedy gig compared to sitting at a computer, where things can be reread and memorised as if carved in stone whereas live stand up is a more fluid concept where things can be missed out, structure altered and reshaped, rhythm and timing reworked.

keir- 03-21-2007

yes, it's never going to happen but it would be interesting to be able to study variations over the life of a show

Pliny The Younger- 03-21-2007

it could happen Keir, once maybe.

keirhaps.

rich has stopped talking about specifics from his show in WU as he knows it annoys people when they go and see him in a show and already know most of the jokes. I agree a book would be a good idea but if its freely available online, would anyone buy the book?

PMike- 08-22-2007

Yes, people would.

jenny- 08-22-2007

i stand corrected. (said the man in the orthopaedic shoes). i received my OFIF (as the kids on the street are calling it) signed programme today and there are a few WU entries in there.
