But 'too late' does not necessarily mean never. It merely means that an opportunity has been missed.
And it wouldn't be exactly the same again, so in a sense, the opportunity will never arise again. Incredibly similar ones may, but that precise one shall not.
too late does mean never, unless used incorrectly.
