Bridget Jones, CHECKED and Moon on a Stick... 1. Rich mentioned in one of his warming up entries that he was mentioned in Bridget Jones' diary - is that true? Does anyone know where he was mentioned and in what context?
2. Why the hell does Rich capitalise CHECKED and/or SELECTED everytime he uses these words in Warming Up??? I don't remember this ever coming up in his past stuff before...
3. Rich has said that "Moon on a Stick" was not a Lee and Herring invention - that it comes from somewhere else. Anyone know where exactly?

no idea on any of those! but welcome warming up fan! I think warming up is one of his greatest achievements.

I agree and thanks for the welcome.
When I asked Rich about the CHECKED phenemenon he fobbed me off like some kind of idiot - saying it was "a glitch". I know it's probably some old in-joke, but I've never come across it - someone must have though.
On the "What women want" DVD there is a small quiz and one of the questions is "what do women want?" One of the multiple choice answers was "the moon on a stick" - so either Mel Gibson is a closet L & H fan, or there is some other reason for this saying and those damn yanks are more familiar with it than us...

i got the feeling at the time that it was something parents would commonly say to their children, although I never heard it before fist of fun myself.
Pliny The Younger- 04-01-2006
I'm sure I heard it before L and H, but I don't really remember properly, I just appreciate the context in which its used.

I invented it.

You tell me, your the one sprouting them!

sprouts, nice
Pliny The Younger- 04-23-2006
Putting a French Towns name next to sprouts doesn't make it anymore true!

ah, but what is truth?
wow, i'm great, that was the most profound thing anyone ever said
it wasn't trite and banal, oh no.
Pliny The Younger- 04-24-2006
Truth is truth, it is the opposite of untruth and is a malleable concept due to the fact (A derivation of truth) that it is based mainly in belief, as most human beings (including me) find it impossible to have a complete understanding of the world in which they live... ?

Truth is a metal fizz ickle can sept(ember) that can knot bee grassed.
